Genesis (11-14s)

Genesis is the name of the youth group for school years 7 to 9 from both of our Church sites. We run several groups under the banner of this name. Youth from both sites meet up on Thursday nights at 6.30pm at Northcourt Road for Genesis. The evening starts with chilling out and fun and games together. We break down into groups to explore how the Bible speaks to us about life, to pray and have fun getting to know one another better! The evening finishes at 8pm.

On Sunday mornings Lazers meets at our Long Furlong site at 10am and Pathfinders meets in the Corner Suite at Northcourt Road between 11.15am and 12.30p.m. These groups are great fun and have a lively mix of games, discussion, worship, Bible teaching and prayer.

The Genesis youth have all sorts of socials and other events each year, everything from games nights to ice- skating, bowling, film nights, a week away during the summer at the New Wine Bible camp and an activities weekend away at in Northamptonshire! New members are always very welcome to any of the groups or social we run, so do get in touch with This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Vision and Values

At the heart of the youth ministry is our vision to see young people meet with Jesus and grow in their relationship with God through; exploring the Bible together and being filled with His Holy Spirit; learning how to love and support each other; and through making an impact at home, school or college by telling others about Jesus.

This vision is based on Jesus' words in Matthew 22:36-40 that we Love God, one another, the world, and those who don't know Him.

Based on this vision, we place the following five aims at the heart of all we do so that we remain rooted in God the Father, Jesus and His Holy Spirit! The youth groups at Christ Church are:

  1. A place to encounter Jesus
When groups come together our goal is to meet with Jesus and experience his life changing power. We do that as we pray, worship, learn from the Bible and support each other.
  2. A place to belong
The youth groups and socials we organise are more than just something you turn up too, but leave unchanged. They exist so that we can have lots of fun together and build strong, caring relationships with Jesus at the centre.
  3. A place to grow
The Apostle Paul said that it was his goal to present everyone mature in Christ. We want to create an environment within our groups that encourages spiritual growth in each young person.
  4. A place to give
We want the youth ministry to be a place where everyone recognises that they have an important part to play. That means everyone sharing their talents, not just those teenagers who are really confident!
  5. A place to reach out
The groups we run are not just for Christians, they're for anyone! Friends are really welcome to anything we do together.
